Lucas Oil Tournament of Champions

Monday, May 06, 2019

The Lucas Oil Tournament of Champions is valued at $15,000 with First Place being a guaranteed $10,000 in cash. The top 10 teams in this event receive a cash payback and  $500 will go to the big bass winners.. There is also a $500.00 Big Bass Pot.

Taking the top prize at the event was Mason and Tony Fleetwood with a 25.10lb bag that included a 7.15lb big bass. Mason Fleetwood reported that this was their best day ever on Kentucky Lake and they did it when it counts. "We only caught seven keepers all day but they were good quality," he said. "We targeted water between 7-12 feet with Motion Fishing jigs. We caught 80% of our fish all week with their jigs." The duo also finished 2nd in the Ranger Classic.

2nd place was Craig Mills and Tom Sheehan with a limit weighing 20.76lbs. They made a long run past Big Sandy and that limited their fishing time, but they were still able to find some solid fish flipping bushes. "We were flipping jigs and had five bites and caught everything that bit," they shared.

Finishing in 3rd was Marc Dewlen and Jon Logue with 20.50lbs. The team caught their fish shallow to finish where they did.  "We didn't catch a lot of fish and only had five keepers all day," said Dewlen.
