KY. Next Generation Crowns Points Champion

With the threat of storms and rain on the horizon and a conversation with the National Weather Service, we decided as a group to launch for our last tournament. There was a Friendly "fight" to take place on the water between Team Lancaster and Team Larew for the points Championship. Coming into the day Team Lancaster lead Team Larew by only 8 points. With 10 teams in the field it was possible for Team Larew to take over and win the points championship. David and son J.D. Larew have been digging all year and definitely made this an exciting battle. Hats off to Team Larew for their sportsmanship.

Tyler Lancaster has had one awesome year, especially for his first year tournament fishing. He and his Dad finished with 3 First place finishes, a Second place, and a Seventh place finish. He looked at me after the 2nd tournament of the year and said "I don't like this", referring to his 7th place finish. I explained to him that tournament fishing was tough, and that you will not always win every tournament you enter. He said "I am not finishing like that again". I thought that he had set a very lofty goal for himself but he proved me wrong. Not only did he not look back but he got more intense on the water and even out fished me in the next two tournaments.

I asked Tyler what his favorite part of The Next Generation trail was and he said "I liked being able to go out and fish and spend time with my Dad. I liked when we had Guest Speakers come talk to us about fishing, and I really liked getting to compete while I was fishing". He then said "I want to thank the people who made The Next Generation possible. I also want to thank my Sponsors: Todd's Jewelry, and Wilgreen Lake Marina for their support. I also want to thank my Dad, Mrs. Ditto Pietrzak, and Mr. Tim Mills for helping at the tournaments. Thanks to our Division Sponsors for the free gear we received all year, and Thanks to Captain Doug Pietrzak (Bar-Ken Guide Service), Mr. Dwayne Davenport (Behemoth Lures), Mr. Kalem Tippett, and Mr. Steve Miller (Murray State University Bass Club) for speaking with us and teaching us about fishing".

 I also spoke to J.D. Larew and asked him what his take on the points chase was. J.D. said “The points race was fun and exciting, It made me want to fish harder”. He also said “I want to say Thank You to all of our Division Sponsors we had this year, and thanks to Johnny Lancaster for organizing our division”. I asked him what his favorite part of The Next Generation was and he said “My favorite thing this year was getting to fish with my Dad, and getting all of the prizes that were donated”.

Thanks to all of you who fished our division and supported us through the year. I am looking forward to next year already. I am certainly looking forward to the Classic next June as well.
