Varner and Anderson Dominate Douglas

Varner and Anderson Dominate Douglas

Sunday, September 26, 2010

The Summer has brought us some of the warmest temps that many of us have seen in a long time. Douglas Lake again was the sight for the Eastern Tennessee Regionals with temps much warmer than the year before. Hot water wasn't a factor for team Varner/Anderson. Despite the temps both water and outside soaring to record numbers the team was able to capture a 14.49 sack. The team also grabbed big bass with a 4.91 largemouth.

In an interveiw with Lee Varner the team's captian he said "We have had some great luck on Douglas for the past two years". Using a jet boat Varner and Anderson was able to go up the river the day before the tournament and catch several good fish on topwater. However, a front came through the night before and brought in one of the few rains of this season.  Just like the team predicted when they arrived at the spot the water looked like a Yahoo chocolate drink. Lee said they managed to pick up a couple fish flipp'in the bushes but when they changed to a spinnerbait so did the luck of the team. In the same spot they were able to fill the box with enough good fish to win their second Eastern Tennessee Regional in a row with three pounds over team Napier and Napier.
