Latest News Lucas Oil 11.93lb Big Bass!![]() Friday, April 30, 2021 As tournament anglers, you know the point in the day when you decide to "swing for the fences" and try for a big bass during a rough day of fishing? That generally never works out as planned, but that's exactly what happened for the team of Larry Bailey and Dennis Morse as Morse caught an 11.93lb bass late in the day on Lake Chickamauga during the Lucas Oil Tournament of Champions. "To be perfectly honest, we were giving up," said Morse. "We had an hour before weigh-in and it was a terrible day for us to that point. We decided to swing for the fence and try to get a big one at least." The anglers frequently fish Kentucky Lake and are right at home fishing ledges and that's exactly where they went. "We pulled up on the ledge and my second cast with a 1/2-ounce Dirty Jigs casting jig was that big one." Initially, Morse wasn't that excited after hooking it as he thought it was a big catfish like the one he caught in practice. "I honestly thought it was a catfish because I caught a 25-pound blue cat in practice and it felt the same," he recalled. "I hooked it and couldn't move it at all. Then it came up and jumped." They landed the bass of course and Morse is still excited after that big catch. "That has been a dream of mine to catch a ten-pounder, my biggest before that was 8.15lbs," he said. "It is still unbelievable to catch my fish of a lifetime and on my first trip to Chick. I'm looking around for the right place to get a replica mount done." Congrats to Dennis Morse on an amazing fish that he'll surely remember forever.
