Latest News "West Boggs Lake is on Fire"![]() Wednesday, April 06, 2011 Saturday Morning March 26th West Boggs division in southern Indiana launched the second tournament of the year with a fridge 28 degrees and snow on the ground. Fourteen teams took off to compete in the arctic settings. West Boggs has been reporting some monster bass but nothing like the snowy cold day this Saturday was about to record. The Lake is relatively shallow, only a 622-acre impoundment, located in the middle of southern Indiana’s big bass country. Five year old fish will go 17 ½ inches and the district average for a 5-year old fish is around 15.5 inches. The fishery shined this Saturday morning when 11 of 14 teams caught 123.16 pounds of bass.
Four limits were weighted, 3 eight pounders, and one fish over 7 pounds. Funkhouser and Koontz would bring in a sack of largemouth bass that would make USA Bassin’ history at 29.13 lbs and crush the other teams by over 8 lbs. The two would weight in two fish over 8 lbs and would still not take big bass. Big Bass for the tournament went to third place team of Robison and Cross with an 8.74 lunker and a USA Bassin’ Big Bass Record. Team Knepp and Worland finished in second with a 5 fish limit weighting 20.93
Director Gary Earl would like to thank all his anglers and encourage others to take advantage of the great fishing in the West Boggs division. For full division information go to Indiana division IN-21 West Boggs on the USA Bassin’ homepage.
