On the weekend of March 31, 2012 over one hundred USA BASSIN teams participated in tournaments throughout southern Indiana. Director Rick Ingram’s division on Lake Monroe had 48 teams, West Boggs division directed by Jeremy Kemp had over 20 plus teams and Adam Flynn’s division on Patoka Lake yielded 47 teams that participated in its season opener. Amazingly all of these Lakes are within an hour plus drive of one another. Patoka Lake‘s season opener would yield only 3 limits of bass from the almost 60 fish caught by the 47 BASSIN teams. Lee Singleton and Ryan Engle would come out on top of the leader board at days end with an 18.32 lb. bag of Largemouth. The BASSIN team now leads the points ahead of last year’s Patoka Lake division champions John Schroering and Charlie Hentrup. Schroering and Hentrup brought a 16.35 sack of bass for second place just two pounds off the leaders Singleton and Engle. Dan South and Fravel was the third place finisher with 5 bass weighing in at 15.47. Fourth place finishers Scott Spayd and Keith Claridge would only take 3 fish to the scales but would finish just a bit less than one pound behind South and Fravel. One of the three fish taken by Spayd and Claridge would weight an impressive 8.17 lbs. to take the honors of big bass for the tournament. Director Adam Flynn and Assistant director Chad Brock would like to thank everyone that participated. The Patoka Lake Spring Division will host the next tournament of the season on 4/14/2012. The division will take off at 7:00 am promptly and will end at 3:00 pm at Newton Stewart launch ramp. Tournament entry fee is $50 dollars, big bass entry $10 and a lake usage fee $5 for a total of $65. Entry fees can be mailed to Adam or paid at the ramp.
