Meunier and Heckel l Win it all!!!

Friday, May 18, 2012

The first week of the month of May for 2012 brought about some of the greatest fishing weather one could want on Kentucky Lake. The USA BASSIN Nitro Classic had brought together once again BASSIN’S very best anglers from across the country to compete for the title of BASSIN’S best. With a field of 218 teams tournament director Gary Earl stood at the mouth of Kentucky Dam Marina to launch USA BASSIN’ 2012 Nitro Classic. Day one came to a close and the field of teams brought several huge limits of bass to weigh-in. The first four places after day one would yield over twenty pound bags each. Steve Humphrey and Jason Rigdon would come out on top of day one with a bag of bass weighing in at 21.64lbs. Behind the Prowler team was Jeff Defew and Jeff Evans with five fish at 21.42 lbs. sitting in third after day one was Bob Linton and John Hall at 21.29. Fourth place after day one would belong to Kevin Meunier and Kenny Keckel  at 20.76 lbs. Day two of the Nitro Classic had once again had been blessed with great weather for fishing. As day two came to a close Kevin Meunier and Kenny Heckel took the lead bringing in an outstanding limit of 25.95 lbs. Meunier and Heckel were able to win the 2012 Nitro Classic in a Nitro boat by over six and one half pounds with a two day total of 46.71 lbs. Team Meunier and Keckel would receive a new Nitro Z-8 with a 200 Optimax Pro XS for winning the 2012 classic.  Kevin Meunier the team’s captain said that like most they had a limit very early. Kevin went on to say that they had very little pressure from other anglers and had the area to themselves most of the day. Meunier also commented on how it was a team effort and the two anglers caught quality fish each throughout day two. Second place honors for the tournament would go to John Dixson and Drew Lynch. Second place prize would receive a new Z-7 Nitro with a 150 Mercury Optimax. Marty Sisk and Jeremy Estes would claim the third place prize of a new Z-6 Nitro with a 115 Mercury Optimax. Everyone at USA BASSIN would like to thank each and every member for fishing the 2011 season and we applaud the efforts of all who competed in championship week. The team at USA BASSIN would also like to wish everyone the very best of luck during the 2012 season.
