Newton Nets a $20,000 Scholarship

 Ronnie is a graduate of Edmonson County High School and is the son of John and Leslie Newton. The Newton parents are founding directors with USA BASSIN.  Ronnie has been fishing with his dad now for about five years. Ronnie has mounted a fishing record with his dad during the 2012 Next Generation season that was able to net him $20,000 in scholarship prize money and a spot on Bethel’s very success full fishing team. The Bethel College fishing wildcats have established themselves has a leader in the sport of collegiate bass fishing. The college makes the decision of the award after fishing records are submitted by BASSIN. Ronnie says he will attend the college and is excited to visit the campus soon. Bethel University is a Christian institute of higher education located in McKenzie, Tennessee with satellite campuses located in Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, Jackson, and Clarksville and is accredited to bestow degrees to the masters level. Ronnie plans to pursue a computer science degree with a minor in business. Newton hails his favorite style of fishing as “power fineness” using shaky head jig with heavier line in deep water.

Congratulations to all our Next Generation high school seniors that have graduated this year. We are extremely proud of Ronnie and all of our Next Generation anglers and wish them the very best in the upcoming season.

The U.S.A. BASSIN Next Generation is a team based trail devoted to helping our youth prepare for a brighter future while involving them in angling. You are allowed to fish this trail with any current youth member of U.S.A. BASSIN. If you want to fish with someone who isn't a member, that person will need to become a member first. It's a quick and simple process to become a member. Any person that is under the age of 19 before the end of the season is considered a youth and their membership is free.

 U.S.A. BASSIN Next Generation Trail Overview…Entry fees from $25.00 to $50.00 …70% payback.

Finish the season with 150+ points to qualify for the U.S.A. BASSIN Next Generation Classic the U.S.A. BASSIN Next Generation is a non-profit public charity scholarship program. Any team with a qualifying youth is allowed to fish in the Next Generation. However the team must create their team as a Next Generation team. It’s quick and easy. Talk to your director for more details. All Next Generation teams have a chance to win scholarships ranging from $5000.00 to $16,000.00. Scholarship monies won are put into escrow for the winning child, and then distributed once that child prepares for their continued education.
