Latest News Robinson's Hook a $500 Scholarship![]() Tuesday, July 09, 2013
On June 15th and 16th, 2013 twenty six USA BASSIN Next Generation teams squared off for their Classic. Six of the twenty-six were Divisional Champions from across the Midwest. The field included two times Division Champs David Hargis and Josh Smith Jr., Tim and Reed Robinson Jon, Ronnie and Jon Newton, Dillon and Travis Richey, and Ralph Roeper Sr. and Andrew Roeper. Each year at the Next Generation Classic, USA BASSIN awards a $500 dollar scholarship to the highest finishing Divisional Champion. At the end of day one it appeared that the team of Hargis and Smith was on track to take the prize. The two brought in three fish that weighed in at 6.67lbs. However, at the end of day two it was Tim Robinson and his son Reed that would claim the National Divisional Scholarship prize money for the 2013 USA BASSIN Next Generation Classic. The Robinson father and son team was able to catch a limit of largemouth that totaled 11.27lbs for a two day total of 13.40lbs. The Robinson’s are from Morgantown, Indiana. Reed is currently a sophomore at Brownstown Central High School. Although undecided at this point what college Robinson plans to attend Reed says the universities with fishing teams have his attention first. Reed has developed business skills early with the establishment of Obsession Lures. Reed and his dad were able to catch their limit of bass on day two of the classic throwing the lures they make. The Robinson’s have started the business of selling their successful lures online at www.obsessionlures.com. Reed has two more years of eligibility in USA BASSIN’S Next Generation and plans to continue to compete.
USA BASSIN’ would like to congratulate all of the Next Generation teams that competed in this year’s 2013 Next Generation Classic. The staff at BASSIN would also like to wish every member the very best of luck as they compete for divisional and regional championships for 2013. Steve Hanson
