Latest News Western Tennessee Regional![]() Monday, September 16, 2013 The Western Tennessee Regional was held on Old Hickory Lake. 100 teams blasted off in search of the title of Regional Champions. "We had 100 boats even and that is great because the field has increased every year since we started 5 years ago. Old Hickory is always a tough fishery but there were some good weights brought to the scales," said Willie Edmonds. Old Hickory fishes more like a river according to the Tournament Director and many of the teams sturggles, with only 40 limits and several teams unable to bring in a single fish to the scales. Cracking the code at Old Hickory Lake was the team of Matt Stanley and Brandon Tramel who weighed in a 14.73lb bag. For their efforts the team brought home over $4,200 in cash. "We started shallow in the morning around grass and caught two nice fish on a Lunker Hunt frog. Once the sun came up we went to deeper water," said Stanley. One of the fish they caught in the morning ended up being the biggest bass of the tournament, a 5.78lb lunker. After they moved deeper they used a Lunker Stick worm and Lunker Hunt casting jig. "We were focusing on the edges of grass that came off of the flats. We caught them all day and probably caught a limit shallow and a limit deep," said Stanley. 2nd Place was the team of Brad Kell and John Morris. This team caught close to 20 keepers throughout the day. "We lost what would have been the winning fish at around 1:00, but from about 12:00 on we were catching them close to every cast. We focused on ledges with a crankbait and a jig," added the 2nd place finishers. 3rd Place was Terry Lawless who fished alone for the event. He weighed 13.68lbs and also had the second biggest bass of the day, a 4.87lb bass. Willie Edmonds would like to give a special thanks to William Scott for his generous donation. At the pre-tournament meeting they held a 50/50 raffle to benefit the Next Generation Scholarship fund and William was the winner. He didn't hesitate to donate his winnings back to the fund to increase what the program does for youth involved with fishing. Thanks William! By: Tyler Brinks
