Bass Cat Classic Winners

O'Bryant and Wallace take the win.

The Bass Cat Classic was the finale of a great Championship Week on Pickwick Lake out of Pickwick Landing State Park. It was a close one and a big congratulations go out to Tom O'Bryant and Buddy Wallace for taking first with a two-day total of 32.36lbs. For the win, they took home a Bass Cat Pantera II with a 200-horsepower Mercury outboard.

The win was close, with the second-place team of Burns and Middleton just .15 pounds behind them and the third-place duo of Ratliff and Dunagen just over half of a pound behind the winners.

The winners brought in 16.06 pounds on the first day and found themselves in 8th place. They backed it up with a similar 16.30 on the second day to jump to first. It was a tough day and the team was surprised they had enough to win.

"We sat on the 'hot seat' for two hours," said O'Bryant. "We had similar weights both days, but the second day was much better for us. We had 10 or 11 keepers and just six the first day."

They mixed it up, fishing spinnerbaits and jigs for the win. "The first day it was mainly the spinnerbait and reversed the second day, where the jig was the main thing," he said. "The fish were focused on shad and they were all postspawn fish feeding up."
