Travis and Wallace win at Rend!

The 2014 Southern Illinois State Regional was held on Rend Lake on September 20th. Over 100 boats blasted off in the morning and the team of Tony Travis and Bobby Wallace left the lake as winners.

Amazingly, Tony and Bobby had never been to Rend Lake before the Friday prefish day. "We live right by Kentucky Lake and really wanted to make sure we qualified for the nationals, so we decided to fish it. We liked the lake, it really allowed us to fish how we like to which is fishing shallow along the bank," said Travis. The winning weight was 15.65lbs and took them all day to get to that weight. "We caught three right away and then it slowed down until late in the day. They caught all of their fish with a white spinnerbait.

Second Place was Brett Giacoma and Tim West  with a limit weighing14.92lbs. They also had the big bass of the event at 6.07lbs. They stayed in one general area all day for their fish. "We stayed in one stretch that was maybe 1,000 yards long, flipping in water that was 1 to 2 ft deep," added Giacoma. They reported catching six total keepers and that they were spread out throughout the day.

Danny Schipkowski and Steve Tucker finished third with a limit weighing 14.10lbs.

Congrats to the top finishers! U.S.A. Bassin would like to thank all of the teams for their participation this year.
