Boggs and Johnson win a Ranger Z119 C with 225hp Mercury Optimax

Your 2015 Ranger Comanche Classic Champions are Drew Boggs and Daniel Johnson. They weighed in a two day total of 41.05lbs and took home a brand new Ranger Z119 C with 225hp Mercury Optimax.

The team lives a few hours away from Kentucky Lake and qualified for the classic via the Percy Priest Division and won the boat in their first time fishing the USA Bassin Ranger Comanche Classic.

Here's how they did it:

Over the two day tournament they weighed two almost identical stringers (20.46lbs and 20.59lbs). Consistency paid off for the team but the two days were much different. "The first day we caught around 15 keepers but the second day we only caught 7. We also never really had a big one, all of ours were just solid fish, four pounders with a five pounder on the second day," added Johnson.

They made a long run to the southern end of the lake and keyed on fish that many of the others had written off. While most of the field was offshore fishing for post-spawn fish, Boggs and Johnson stayed shallow the entire event. "We focused on water that was less than three feet deep the whole time, flipping jigs and plastics to any cover we could find. I think since so many people were offshore, we had more water to cover and didn't have to share our areas as much," said Johnson.

Their bait selection did not seem to matter according to the team. Instead they covered as much water as they could, flipping and pitching everything along the way. "We caught them in brush, rock, wood, willow trees and whatever else was in the water," said Johnson.

Consistency paid off and the team walked away with a brand new boat. Congrats to them and all of the top finishers.
