TN-03 Cherokee Winter Division Wrap-up & Look Ahead to Spring

The TN-03 Winter division on Cherokee lake concluded Saturday (02/27) with the final tournament on Cherokee Lake taking out at the TVA free launch at Cherokee dam.  It was a cold morning with temperatures at blast-off hovering around 35 degrees.  The clouds stayed with us the biggest part of the day and unfortunately so did the high winds. Depending on where you were on the lake, water temperatures were between 38-44 degrees.

It was a tough day for most as only two out of the five boats weighed in a fish.  At the end of the day it was Jason Spencer and Timothy Blevins taking first place honors with their 3 largemouth bass that weighed 7.80 lbs.  They also had lunker with a 2.80 lb largemouth.  Spencer & Blevins reported that all of their fish were caught close to the channel in deep water near schools of bait on blade baits.  Second place went to Joe *****mings & Brian Moore who had 1 fish weighing 1.50 lbs. Their fish also came on blade baits in deep water.   No other fish were weighed in for the day.  Congratulations to these 2 teams for being able to locate a keeper during the somewhat difficult conditions.

At the conclusion of Saturday’s event, the Divisional Point Championship was awarded to Jason Spencer and Timothy Blevins who ac*****ulated 445 points in 5 events.  Their consistency was the key to their success this season as they were able to locate fish in all but 1 of the divisional tournaments. Second place in the point’s race went to Joe *****mings and Brian Moore with a total of 398 points.  Third place went to Darryl Pluedemann and Tyler Herrell with 249 points. Congratulations to Jason & Tim and all those rounding out the top five for the season!  Also, a special thanks to each of you who came out and endured the harsh conditions at almost every tournament this season.  It was a tough trail to fish this year but your participation and support helped make the TN-03 Winter Division a great success!

Now that the TN Winter trail has concluded and Spring is just around the corner, there are several other divisions in TN that have just started or are in the process starting up in the next few of weeks.  Some of those include the TN-04 Chattanooga Division which started it’s season on 02/27, the TN-05 Percy Priest Division which starts on 03/13, the TN-06 Old Hickory Division which starts 03/20, the TN-07 Norris Division which starts on 03/13, the TN-08 South Holston Division which starts on 03/20, the TN-09 Boone Division which starts 04/03, the TN-10 Tri-Cities Division which starts on 03/13 and the TN-11 Loudoun Division which starts on 05/16.
