Dortch and Estep win at Cherokee Lake

Cherokee Lake was the site of the Eastern Tennessee Regional that was held on September 13th. 30 teams took to the lake and the team of Brian Dortch and Anthony Estep emerged victorious.

The winning weight was 17.87lbs, enough to win by nearly five pounds. "It was really tough, we only had one keeper at 1:00," said Dortch. At their last stop, they got into a big school of fish and were able to fill out their limit with fish chasing shad. "We were fishing reaction baits on that last spot and catch four good ones," added Dortch. Their bag included three smallmouth and two largemouth, including a 4.07lb smallmouth.

Second place was Drew Boggs and Daniel Johnson with five fish for 12.89lbs. According to Boggs, they ran up lake to stained water and flipped wood laydowns and bluff walls. "We caught around 12 keepers and just culled up in small increments all day," said Boggs.

Third place was Brandon Taylor and Lee Kerney with12.57lbs. The team started off with a few keepers right away but then went until around 1:00 before the next flurry. "We were fishing really shallow, 1-2 feet. The fish were shallow eating shad and bluegill and we caught them all on reaction baits," added Kerney.

Congrats to all of the top finishers at the Eastern Tennessee Regional. U.S.A. Bassin would like to thank all of the teams for fishing this event.
