May 11, 2009
At day two weigh-in there were 30 or so less teams bringing a fish to the scales to around 130. Big fish for the day went to team Miller/Miller with a 6.30lb largemouth. The team collected $1,000 for their big fish.

To add to the excitement on day two,  the top 5 teams from day one were last to
weigh-in.

As the top five started weighing in,  the weights continued to grow. Second place team from day one Willoughby/Bratcher impressed the crowd by bringing in a limit of 24.65lbs for a two day total of 42.66lbs. First place team from day one Logue/Kyle brought a limit of 17.36lbs for a two day total of 36.04lbs and team Willoughby/Bratcher went on to win the Classic.

Willoughby/Bratcher won a New 2009 Nitro Z8 with a Mercury 175 motor valued at
$30, 285. They also picked up a bonus of $5,000 thru the BPS Tournament Rewards Program.

First Place team Willoughby/Bratcher reported to have caught over 30 keepers throughout the day. They were fishing spawning flats and secondary points in 4-17ft of water using crankbaits, jigs, and Carolina rigs with Prowler Brush Dogs in green pumpkin color.

“We ran about 240 miles in our two days of fishing. You know it’s your day when you have a double hookup with over 9lbs of bass in the net. We did lose a few fish, but everything else went write for us! We would like to thank our sponsor Renegade Marine and Prowler Lures. We appreciate John and Leslie Newton for all they do to run the U.S.A. Bassin Division tournaments.” –Willoughby/Bratcher

Second Place team Logue/Kyle fished secondary points and grass flats in 5-10ft water using hula grubs in green pumpkin on 1/4oz and ½oz shakey heads. The team took home $6,000 for their second place finish!

Third Place team Miller/Miller fished flats and flooded bushes in 6-12’ of water using jigs and tubes. They managed to catch over 30 keepers for the day for a two day limit total of 35.05lbs. The team took home $4,000 for their third place finish!

“It was an awesome day to be on the lake. We just couldn’t get the weight we needed! This is a great tournament trail for the money!” –Miller/Miller

Fourth Place team Berger/Voelkerding fished spawning flats, flooded bushes and creek beds with flukes and tubes in shallow water throughout the day. They managed a two day limit total of 31.25lbs.

“We were catching 20lb sacks this week, but our weight dropped the last two days. The cold front shut our fish down. We had to tweak our pattern to catch them. We missed a couple of good fish that cost us. Some of our areas were muddy after all the rain the area received. We couldn’t get them to bite in those areas after they got muddy. This was our first season with U.S.A. Bassin and we enjoyed it! We want to Thank to Mike Glenn for running a good division out of Rend Lake.” - Berger/Voelkerding

Fifth Place team Wooten/Scott fished spawning beds in the back of pockets using senkos, and topwater frogs in shallow water all day. They managed a two day limit total of 27.59lbs.

“We caught the fish off the beds. We were able to see them on the beds on day one, but the water clarity made it hard to see them on day two. We continued to fish the same areas and they bit for us. We saw close to 70 bass on the beds over the two days. U.S.A. Bassin is a top notch trail to fish!” - Wooten/Scott
